A feature I specially like is the ability to validate reciprocal links. This ensures that when a person is submitting a site to your directory, and chooses reciprocal option, they must paste the reciprocal code on the specified webpage. Without it the form will not submit.
Lot of webmasters and users of PHP link Directory script have made plugins, and hacks which allow you to do more with your installation of PHP link Directory. Most of these could be found on their forums via it's home page . The PHP Link Directory theme I have below has some hacks pre-installed. These hacks are not available elsewhere at the time of writing this. (Please refer the copyrights before using, or distributing these hacks.)

You are allowed to use them freely on your own websites.- Adds a side column to the left side, making the directory look more like a "website" than a directory site, and makes it more user friendly.
- Shows your top level categories in this left column, so people browsing can make an easy switch between categories.
- It is this left column which can be used to show ads, like google adsense etc.
- Shows latest 11 sites submitted and approved in the left column, This motivates people to submit their sites as they can get a direct link from your home page for some time.
- Displays SEO friendly feeds in the left column, which match the category people are browsing. These are links to full articles by people who are an authority on their subject. Example if you have a Blog category, then only articles related to blogging will be displayed in that category. Similarly, if you have a college category, college related articles will be displayed and so on. This keeps your webpages fresh with related content only!
